May 29 … Lamb’s Ear and Brugmansia about to pop in the witch’s garden

Lamb’s Ear is a seductive plant. It’s good for a moon garden as the furry leaves look almost silver in the daylight, and radiant at night. I had a few plants given to me a couple years back. It had taken over too much of her garden and she was tossing them out.

I’ve kept them contained, basically by letting them double in size. But they do keep out everything else but poison ivy, which manages to snake through the stalks.

I was concerned about the Brugmansia. Lots of rain, high winds, leaves were broken. Then one day last week, close to a dozen leaves fell off. They were older leaves, yes, but still I was concerned. I’m a virgin when it comes to Brugmansia.

A couple days later I had three bloom pods pointing up. About a week now they are pointing down, the flower starting to emerge. Slowly … tomorrow is day three. Meanwhile up, I counted thirty new blooms an inch or two long and stopped counting.

It’s possible that I’m visibly excited. Likely not. That would be unbecoming.
